An alcohol-free and natural perfume
Solid perfume is a balm-form perfume, mainly composed of vegetable butters and oils, as well as waxes. It therefore has moisturizing qualities and will be gentler on your skin as it contains no alcohol (#hellobabyskin).
Furthermore, at Nolença, we have chosen to go even further and compose our collection of solid perfumes with between 95% and 98% naturally derived ingredients (depending on the perfume).
A bit of history
In reality, solid perfume is not a new invention. Back to basics...
The first users to produce scented materials, including solid perfume, were the Egyptians (to give you an idea of the timeline, we're going back more than 5000 years). They called kyphi a form of sacred incense that they melted on their bodies to honor the gods. To make this material, they infused fragrant substances such as cinnamon, myrrh, broom flowers, cardamom, juniper berry, and sandalwood, and let them macerate in vegetable oils or animal fats. This technique is also the origin of enfleurage, a method that was still used in perfumery a few years ago. It was only centuries later, in Europe, that we started talking about concrete essences.
From the 14th century onwards, alcoholic perfumes developed and took over from concretes. After a long period in oblivion, it was at the beginning of the 20th century that solid perfume rose from its ashes, to make a strong comeback today. (#greenbeautyrevolution).
And its application?
It's very simple! You apply the solid perfume directly with your finger to the skin, on pulse points such as the inside of the wrists, on the neck, and why not behind the knees! (Basically, almost anywhere you want kisses...)
